Frequently Asked Questions
Why Hill Country Classics Custom Homes?
Since 1983, Hill Country Classics, Inc., a locally owned company, has offered customers in South Texas and the Texas Hill Country the most home for their money. We take pride in our outstanding reputation that has been built on a firm foundation of satisfied customers. Our strong commitment to affordability, quality and flexibility has made us the leading custom home builder in the area. Our efficient size and attention to detail assures that the finished product not only meets, but exceeds your expectations.
I think I know what I want. How can you help?
Hill Country Classics has a large selection of floor plans ranging from as small as 600 square feet to well over 2,500 square feet. Should you have ideas or plans of your own, our staff designer can help you put your ideas on paper. We work together with our clients to see their ideas become reality from the design phase to completion.
What if I want to make a change with your floor plans?
We use the most sophisticated and current design software available for all our new plan designs. We will work to accommodate your desires whenever possible. Flexibility has long been one of our key traits at Hill Country Classics. We encourage our customers to be creative with our floor plans. You can view floor plans for each of our homes by following the links on our Plans page. Many of the homes also have alternate floor plans featuring custom design revisions.
I already own my own home site. Can you build on my lot?
The unique features of your lot or building site can require special skills to handle legal considerations, designs, layout and scheduling requirements. Hill Country Classics specializes in the extra care necessary to build on your property, even in the most remote areas. If you can provide a clear title to your home site, we will assist you in obtaining the construction and permanent financing at the lowest fixed interest rates. Should you still owe money on your building site, we will do our best to obtain the most favorable financing available to meet your individual needs.
Are all the different roof types and exterior finishes seen in your brochure available on any of your homes?
Sure! Simply choose your exterior, interior finishes and color schemes from our generous selection and we will incorporate it into the plan of your choice.
Are your homes pre-cut or pre-manufactured in any way?
No, each Hill Country Classics Custom Home is custom built one piece at a time, tailored to fit your building site. As a matter of fact, we are one of the few companies you will find still framing 16″ o.c. – not only the interior and exterior walls, but the 2″x 6″ ceiling joists and roof rafters are 16″ o.c. as well.
What are the advantages of buying a semi-completed rather than fully completed home?
Many of our customers have found that by doing some of the finish work themselves they not only save money, but are to complete their new home as their budget and schedule allow. Many folks looking down the road to retirement find this to their advantage as do young couples with growing families.
Does Hill Country Classics use particle board in their cabinets, roof decking or subfloor?
Absolutely not! You will not find particle board or pressed wood roof decking, subfloor or cabinetry in any of our homes. We use all solid wood and plywood products from the ground up!
What can you tell me about the operational costs of my new home once it's completed?
At Hill Country Classics we take great pride in the overall operating efficiency of our homes. Things such as optional 2″x 6″ exterior walls, high efficiency Trane central heating and air conditioning systems, energy efficient Low “E” double pane windows and the highest quality insulation products are a few examples of what goes together to make your new Hill Country Classics Custom Home an even better value.
Is there a warranty with my new home?
Every Hill Country Classics Custom Home is backed by our exclusive “Customer Satisfaction Limited Warranty”. To assure your satisfaction, prior to closing, we will schedule a “walk through” inspection so you can personally examine your new home. At this time, you will be acquainted with the operation of all the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and structural features that make up your new home.
I'm eager to get started! What's next?
After you approve the design plans for your new home, Hill Country Classics will process your loan application for approval. Ground breaking should take place four to six weeks following your loan approval. With good weather, your new home should be completed within 180 days.
